Master Classes

If you’re a writer in our local San Francisco Bay Area community, you’ll want to take a look at our calendar of upcoming master classes with some of the region’s finest teaching writers, all of which will bring you into contact with other local writers and help you invigorate and sustain your writing projects. In these programs, participants from all levels of writing experience come together to develop focus and momentum, and to further their shared conversations as practicing writers. We know better than anyone how challenging it can be to carve out time to realize new work, and to connect with those who can best help you enliven your writing and writing life. It’s our goal to offer intensive writing retreats that are affordable, valuable, and meaningful to our local artscape, and to help writers find community and support for their new work here at home.

Some of these programs are topically focused, whereas others focus on craft or process issues of particular interest to memoir writers. All are appropriate for writers at all levels of experience. Open to the general public by advance registration only, Memoir Journal’s Master Classes meet at Art Jam, a new studio in Berkeley. Your course fee includes a complimentary subscription to Memoir.
